Like every morning, Maude woke up from a weird dream with a sigh. This time, she had dreamt she had been chased by a yoghurt pot riding a bicycle and an army of crabs with lightsabers. Would she stop dreaming about such nonsense one day? Maybe it was a way for her brain to relax after a tiresome day. After all, she had to keep a constant control on her ability to avoid getting into people's mind. Not that her power was extreemly tiring to control but she had to maintain the control all the time because she had always thought it was rude to read people's mind without their permission - as if she was ever going to be given permission for such an intrusive act, she thought, rising an eyebrow and walking to the bathroom.
After a short and refreshing shower, she got dressed and stopped by the mirror. She wasn't the type to wear a heavy makeup but she did like to put on lipstick, to emphasize her smile. « No matter what you can hear or feel, always remember that if negative emotions are contagious, so are positive ones. So promise me you will never stop smiling sweetheart. » her mother used to tell her since she was just a kid. She had been raised with love and compassion and had grown up to be a very sweet, happy, maybe a little shy, young woman who did not judge or critcize anyone. Even after having picked up very dark thoughts from all sorts of people, Maude could not help but keep on loving mankind; to respect, love and understand the other no matter his/her thoughts or actions was carved in her bones .
Humming a sprightly song, she left the house after having grabbed prospectus that was on the living-room table. She looked at the flyer absentmindedly: « Elite World Training Center for Gifted Talents »... Weird name but she hoped they would be able to help her to help other people with her abilities.
