Talk it Over a Slice (Tag: MK)

Riku set his tray down at an empty table. He had apparently gotten there during the lunch rush so there weren't many open seats left. If anyone else came by they would have to double up. He wasn't sure how he felt about that but he couldn't think of a good reason why he would need an entire table to himself. Besides, there were some fairly attractive girls on campus. No need to scare them off by being rude.

It was a relief for MK to finally get lunch. The training had been a bit hard and she tried very hard to change her hair colour to other colours. Using so much energy made her a bit tired and very hungry. She got herself a sandwich, a glass orange juice and a cup of coffee before she looked for a place to sit down. It wasn't many tables left until she saw one silver haired young man sitting alone at a table. She approached him and asked him polite: "May I sit here?"

Riku looked up. Speak of the devil. He knew someone would come by to sit with him. She looked exhausted so he assumed she had just got done with her most recent training session. He shrugged and scooted over so she would have some room to join him. He supposed if he hadn't wanted anyone to join him he wouldn't have eaten in the cafeteria in the first place. "Yeah," he said, "You can."

"Thank you," she replied with a smile before she sat down. It felt really good to sit down and get a break. She had never thought that the training would be so hard. It sounded more easier when her grandfather told her stories how he trained with his powers. She took a bite of the sandwich and caught a glimpse of his hair again. One could really see it in her eyes that she really admired it. It was so pretty. He really suited it. It would be rude if she stared much longer.

"Sure," he replied. He just thought it would be the two of them silently eating their meal after that. But then he noticed her staring at him, almost very intently or more focused on his hair than his face. It was an odd color but it ran in his family so he couldn't complain too much. He smirked and placed the pizza slice down. Now she had his full undivided attention. "You'll burn a hole through me if you keep staring like that." he told her.

She blushed as he stared back at her. "Sorry," she said embarrassed. "It's just that I've never seen silver before. It's really cool," she said and stared down at her food.

Riku shrugged. "You realize there are other people on campus with stranger colors, right?" he asked. He had thought he saw a girl walk past him with pink hair and there was a man who had spiky yellow hair. But that was just Riku's observations. He hadn't actually spoken to any of those people.

"Well, yeah. But that's not even a real hair colour," she replied slowly. She was used to see people from her school dye their hair into other colours like green or purple or other colours that made them look horrible. But anyway she had caught a glimpse of someone around here with pink hair or something, but she wasn't sure that it was real or dyed.

"So you only sat by me because of my hair?" Riku teased, feigning sarcasm. "That stings a little." Silver hair was in his family. He knew no different. Everyone had silver hair that he knew of so he knew no different. He could perhaps poke fun at her fire red hair but he really didn't care to hash that out with her.

"I'm sorry if I offended you," MK hurried to say. "There weren't any places left," she mumbled lokking down at her lap. Was she misunderstanding something again? Stupid autism! MK thought.

"Offended me?" Riku asked in complete surprise. Maybe she didn't understand teasing. "No, you haven't offended me. I was just teasing you." He offered her a kind smile.

"Oh," she said relived. So he was just teasing her. "Then I just misunderstood," she said blushing. "I'm just struggling with some autism." She could feel her cheeks becoming red of the blushing.

"Don't apologize," Riku chided lightly. This probably meant he should probably tone down his usual level of 'sass' as his mother had used to put it. It wouldn't do him any good to make her feel bad about herself and that certainly wasn't his intentions. "It's no big deal."

MK just nodded. She drank a little from her juice, it was cold and refreshing. "So, which division are you at?" she asked carefully, trying to start a conversation.

"ECM," Riku replied. He raised his hand and his fork instantly flew to his finger tips. He then let it float above his palm and the metal started to twist and bend at his will. "I can control metal. What about you?"

MK whistled, impressed by what she just saw. "BCM, I'm a shape shifter," MK replied.

"Really?" Riku asked with intrigue. He had never come across anyone with that sort of power before. He placed the warped fork down on the table. He wasn't going to bother to bend it back. Metal forks like that were cheap. "Care to show me? But uh, no pressure." He wasn't used to 'being nice'. It felt very unnatural for him.

MK nodded to Riku's question. She looked around the room to see if there was anyone around with red hair. She was still tired from the training today, so she didn't want to pressure herself with changing hair colour now. Her eyes fell upon a girl with wildly curled red hair, then she glowed faintly and then she was exactly like the other girl, with red and wild curled hair.

Riku grinned. "Well, color me impressed," he told her. "That must be handy." He could think of a few things he would do if he had that power. None of them were smiled on within society, but that was just Riku. "Do you like your power?" he asked, since there was a possibility she disliked it. He was just trying to make polite conversation.

MK smiled before she changed back to herself. "Think it will come on handy," she grinned. It would have been cool if she could be a great agent with her power. "I do like my power," she said after a while. "My grandfather is also a shape shifter, so I feel we both have something more in common together." Just mentioning her grandfather made her smile. They both were best friends ever since she was a little girl. And she was glad that he encouraged her to join ELITE.

Riku shrugged. He wouldn't know anything about family encouragement. His parents had kicked him out because they were disgusted with his powers. He didn't fit in with their perfect little plan so they would have rather gotten rid of him. "Haven't ever met anyone who could do exactly what I do," Riku said, not even bringing up his own family problems.

"Maybe you will meet someone with the same powers as you have one day," she replied carefully before she took a bite of her sandwich. God, she was really hungry.

"We'll see." Riku replied. He really doubted it but yes, he would wait and see if he ever did. "What about you? Any other shape shifters here?"

"So far, only two," she replied. So far it was only her, Mavis and Kiyomi who were the shape shifters at their division. But it was better than nothing. "But have you met other benders at your division?"

"Nope. Haven't gone to any of the training," Riku replied. Why bother? He wasn't here so someone who didn't have his power could tell him how to better train himself and push himself and use his own power.
