Gentle Waves {Tag:Zack}

"Huh... Oops." Zack laughed. That certainly couldn't have been good. "I didn't really start flying until I was about two and apparently that was a nightmare for my parents. They were terrified when my sister was born that she would be just like I was. But she wasn't."

"I can imagine a flying kid would be harder to deal with." He commented with a smile. "My powers became more of an issue as more and more technology started popping up in everyday life. It was easier as a kid since it wasn't as common."

Zack nodded. He had lived through the age where technology had been nonexistent to instantly everywhere within a span of a decade. "Yeah, guess that would be a bit of a problem." Zack mused.

Andy nodded, running a hand through his hair.  He tended to have a need to always do something with his hands whether it be playing with his hair or fidgeting with his sleeve.  "Ya, I mean, I mostly could just ignore it, but there was lot more room for mistakes with so many electronics around.  It probably also helped in a way though.  It made me more focused on not letting it show ever."

"Not letting it show? Uh, you know that's like repressing how you feel, right? It's unhealthy! Dude you gotta be yourself! Be proud!" Zack encouraged. "We didn't ask to be special like this but you shouldn't have to be in the closet about it."

"Well, there's a difference between using my power and accidentally making other people's electronics glitch out when I get upset. It helped me get a handle on it," Andy clarified. His reasoning made sense at least to him. He didn't dislike his power, he just had to be careful with it sometimes.

"No, I get it man, don't have to defend yourself to me!" Zack said, holding up his hands in innocence. "We've all had our growing pains with our powers."

Andy ran a hand through his hair, nodding. He gave him a slight smile. "It's kind of weird getting used to the idea that everyone here has powers," Andy admitted. He wasn't used to people understanding his perspective on these things.

"Maybe?" Zack said. He was just used to people with powers. He had them. His sister had them. His mother had them. The only one in his family who did not was his father. "But you're settling in okay and everything, right?"

Andy nodded. "Ya, things are going well on that front," he confirmed. It was interesting seeing how it varied from person to person whether powers were common in their family or an outstanding case like him.

Zack grinned. He had to hold back the urge to ruffle Andy's hair the way he did with Xion. He was certain Andy would appreciate it about as much as his sister did. "Let me know if you need anything?" Zack requested, probably because Andy was the same as his sister - too smart for their own good.

"Okay, I will," Andy agreed, smiling back at Zack. Even though Andy was more of a loner type he was glad he was meeting people.

"I mean it, kid, anything." Zack said. He whipped out his cell phone. "Give me your number. You can call whenever. I'm an old military dog. We sleep at odd hours anyways."

Andy entered his number into Zack's phone, though he didn't actually touch it to do so, simply mentally inputting it into the phone.  It was automatic for him, but after he did it he did worry about whether he should have asked first.  "I'm a computer nerd, we sleep at odd hours too," he replied, smiling slightly.

"Good to know." Zack said. "And if you're ever looking for someone to face in a game or something, I might be able to get my sister to teach you a few lessons... But only in gaming." He wasn't about to proposition his sister to some kid.

"Don't do too much gaming for a computer nerd but I'll keep it in mind," he chuckled with an open smile.

"Well, she also graduated college with a computer servicing degree." Zack said. "She could have gone on for her Masters but she got bored you know..."

Andy chuckled, nodding. He wondered what it'd be like to retain so much information. "That's cool. We're both in the same division, so maybe we'll end up doing some training together at some point."

"Be good to her, ya hear?" Zack said, trying to sound threatening. That was his baby sister. He wanted to make sure she was taken care of.

Andy nodded, a light smile of understanding touching his face. He had a younger sister too so he could understand Zack's protectiveness. "I will be," he reassured. He wasn't one to be harsh to others unless they gave him some form of cause or fright.

Zack sighed. He smoothed a hand through his hair. "You have younger siblings?" Zack asked.

Andy nodded. "A younger sister; she's back home," he commented, glancing out across the water.

"How young?" Zack asked. There was a large age gap between Zack and Xion. He wondered if Andy would one day be threatening some guy to be good to his younger sister too.

"She's 12 right now. She's starting middle school next year." Andy was 5 years older than his sister, but they still got along very well despite the age gap. He hoped she'd do well in her new school. It was all pretty much the same people as elementary school, but it was still a big change.

"Then you'll be just like me in a few years." Zack laughed. "Except you can threaten to blow up their tech if they treat her badly." He smiled over at Andy. The things older siblings did for their younger siblings.
