Lost Pendant (Tag: Marieanne)

She chuckled. "Of course I am! Who wouldn´t be? After all we got trainers with both, powers like we do as well as experience and advice they surely can give. I´m really curious about the practical sessions ..." Last she said rather a little worried since her actual power is her immortality which just happened to have selfhealing with it and it therefore might take quite some pain or suffering for her to improve her healing kills.

"Oh... I hadn't thought about those." Aqua murmured. That would most likely end in her showing everyone what it was she could do, revealing secrets in front of the class? She didn't think she could betray other students like that.

"Well they surely only will do ones which are best for us. Highly doubt that they put us on real risk ... well at least yet ... or at least I hope so. What´s your power though if I may ask?" Marieanne replied before taking a first sip of the tea as it was cool enough for her in her thought. Besides she was able to heal herself anyways so even a burned tongue wouldn´t be a big deal at all.

"I... learn things." Aqua sighed, since it was better to get it over with than to try and hold out. She was almost expecting Marieanne to spit out her tea once she finally said it all. She had all sorts of negative reactions once people realized she knew them on a very personal level. "By holding personal belongings of others. Psychometry."

At first Marieanne was unable to move, holding still like an animal pretending to be dead. How much had Aqua seen? Did she know about her immortality? Did she even know about her family? Just then she felt a sharp pain coming from her hands which were now covered in blood as she had just broken her cup. "So you ... how much have you seen?"

Aqua quickly cast aside her own mug and grabbed a dish towel from the counter. She pressed it to Marieanne's hands. This brought to mind trauma treatment she had seen from touching a book of a nursing student. She would have to stop the bleeding. She wrapped the towel around the bleeding appendages and applied pressure. "I don't talk about what I see. You have my word." Aqua said, trying to reassure her. "But... I know enough."

Shivering in shock she put the towel away once it was wrapped around her hands and dealt with the few broken pieces inside her hands before they healed completely almost immediately. "Thank you but as you probably know I´m not in need of any medical assistance." With a sigh she put the towel away, grapping the counter right after as she started to feel quite weak. "So do you know about ... my family?"

"It wasn't intentional." Aqua said. She looked over at the bloody towel on the counter, avoiding Marieanne's eyes. Because the pendant had been so special to Marieanne, it gave Aqua more insight on her. More secrets, more pain, things Aqua tried to avoid telling others so they wouldn't fear the power she had over them, fear her for telling things they never wanted to air. "I know... About everything."

"But ... but you said you will keep it secret right?" She said, looking right in Aquas eyes.

"I won't tell anyone." Aqua assured her. "I couldn't betray your trust like that." This was why Aqua preferred to keep her powers a secret. So many people were uncomfortable with what she could do and it hurt to be distrusted just because of something she had no control over. "I couldn't... Hurt you like that."

She sighed, relieved that it seemed that her secret would be kept. "Thank you."

Aqua sighed and smiled sadly. "You shouldn't have to thank me for that." she said. Seeing those things was unintentional. She felt horrible for prying into Marieanne's personal life like that. There were times she wished she didn't have her power because it made trust hard between people. "But you're welcome."

"It surely must have been hard to tell other about your power or rather keep it a secret. Maybe it´s good you found out about my past and power." She replied.

"No one knew... Except for you, the directors at the orphanage and whoever sent me the flyer about this place," Aqua said. "It's better that way, don't you think?" It protected her from getting hurt and it saved others the outrage. She knew that her powers could be used for espionage, spying, hurting others.

"Oh so you´re an orphan?" Suddenly a sharp pain hit Marieanne as she got thrown back at her own child which she had to leave behind at some point and hardly had gotten any information from that seperation day on. At least her little baby had her brother and his family but still ... the poor thing surely had felt as orphan at least every now and then. "That must have been really hard. How good did you know your parents?"

"I didn't." Aqua said. "I was just... left in a box. Someone found me and took me to the police and when no one claimed me... I was sent to the orphanage." It was one of the things that bothered Aqua the most - never knowing why she was tossed aside like that. Why she wasn't wanted enough to be kept or if she simply couldn't be kept. But a box? Not even sending her somewhere safe? She was left on a street corner in a box. Anything could have happened to her before the good Samaritan found her.

"A box?" Marieanne replied with eyes wide opened as she was clearly shocked. It wasn´t like she herself hadn´t even seen such a thing before, even the very same situation with a baby just left alone in a box and even worse. But all of this had happened centuries ago! At a time when most of this world was everywhere such a giant mess with much less caring about each other even about children. But nowdays? This was just way beyond only being cruel. "That terrible!" She eventually said while placing her hands gently on Aquas shoulders, almost about to hug her but stopping since she didn´t even know if the girl wanted this.

"It happens. Certain places actually have laws that it's okay to abandon a child at a hospital," Aqua said. Those were normally in the cases of young parents with infants they couldn't care for but it had happened to children and teenagers too. She tried to be dismissive about it. Despite her bravado she simply didn't like to talk about her past but she felt that it was only fair that Marieanne knew because Aqua herself already knew so much about Marieanne.

"Yes I know. They also normally have a special section and place to put the babies in so they are as safe and taken care of as possible under that hard circumstances but a box? That´s ..." She stopped there as she didn´t want to go to far. After all she herself also had some stories of her past she didn´t want to tell anyone.

"There are much worse things that can happen to children," Aqua said. "I lived in that orphanage. I know. I've seen them." Mostly from second hand experiences via the precious toys and trinkets the children had but she helped the social workers re-home those lost children. "Some of them are much better off now than they ever were."

"I see." Marieanne just replied before she got quiet again about this heavy topic right at the point when they have just met.

"Are you settling in okay otherwise?" Aqua asked. "Didn't lose anything else, did you?" She hoped that Marieanne would take that as teasing. She was trying to lighten the mood despite everything that had just happened.

Marieanne smiled a little at her tease. "Well at least not to my knowledge. How about you though? Every lost anything?"

Aqua shook her head. "I haven't much to lose." she said. She had kept track of all that she had. Most of her bag had been stuffed with gifts from children that she was leaving behind. She would write them at least.

"Well sometimes even the best." She replied.
