Glittering Water {Tag:Ramona}

Andy walked along the path toward the pond. He liked finding the different nice outdoor spots. While hanging out among his electronics was all well and good, he liked some time away from them. The sun was glimmering off the water in a pleasing way that made him smile.

Ramona laid in the grass just besides the pond, her legs in the water, just staring up at the sky. It was such a beautiful day, and she tried to see shapes and figures in the clouds. She turned her head from the clouds as she heard some footsteps and saw a man walking nearby the pond as well.

Andy blinked in surprise as he noticed a girl by the pond, rubbing the back of his head and glancing away shyly. He wasn't the best at starting conversations with strangers

She caught him at the moment that he happened to look her way, and she smiled a little bit when he glanced away shyly. "Hi there!" She called out to him, still laying down--seeing him upside down.

"H-hi," He said, gaze shifting back to the girl. He crouched down next to her on the grass, giving her a slight smile.

Ramona looked up at him as he sat down in the grass besides her. She loved meeting new people and all the people she had met here so far were very nice. "Isn't today just beautiful? Look at the water and the clouds, oh I just want to stay outside forever! But then I'd get a sunburn. That wouldn't be as fun." She was saying a lot of things and glanced back to him, who seemed really quiet. "Oh where are my manners... My name is Ramona! But you can call me Cricket. What's your name?"

Andy chuckled softly as she chattered enthusiastically. He liked people like that; he was far more comfortable listening to others than he was when it came to sharing his own opinions. "That's an interesting nickname. My name's Andy."

"Thanks!" Cricket smiled proudly as she sat up. She always felt proud when people complimented her on her name. "Hi Andy! What brings you here?"

"I like pleasant little outdoor places like this," he told her, glancing out over the water of the pond. "They're good for unwinding and relaxing for a while."

"Me too, I used to go to places like these all the time. Sometimes I wish I could just live outside," she nodded with a smile. Although that was impractical, it was a nice fantasy. All indoors ever gave her were the cruelty of people at school or her foster home. "I really am jealous of the people who have powers that have to do with nature. I think they're so lucky to have such a beautiful power."

"Ya, especially those that can talk to animals.  I'd love that," Andy admitted.  "My powers about as far from connected to nature as you can get."  He played with the stem of a clover flower absently.

Cricket's smile grew even wider as she drew circles in the grass with her finger. "Aah! I love animals, I feel the exact same way, oh my gosh. It's like you read my mind... maybe that's your power?" She joked with a laugh. It probably wasn't. "Well, what is it?"

"Nope, not a mind reader," he replied playfully with a smile. "I have technokinesis, controlling electronics."

"Ohh! Well, yup, that is as far from nature as you can get." She replied with a small laugh. "Not that it's bad or anything.. I bet it comes in handy a lot."

Andy chuckled. "Ya, it can come in handy," he agreed. "It makes it easier for me to get information and allows me to do certain things with electronics hands free."

"Oh sweet, that's pretty cool!" Cricket crossed her legs and put her hands on her lap. "My power is like the complete opposite of hands free." She added before laughing a little nervously, shrugging. "I've got a superhuman strength." She answered before he could ask.

Oh, that must be interesting, could definitely be useful at times." He ran a hand through his hair, making a bit ruffled in the process, and giving her a small smile. He wondered how much trouble she'd had with her power in the past, but figured he shouldn't ask. People opened up about that sort of thing as they were comfortable doing so.

"Yep. But it also can be kind of annoying too," she sighed as she looked down and at the pond. "You would not believe how many doorknobs I've had to get replaced!" She laughed a little before glancing back to him and smiling a little shyly.

"That has to be a hassle! I guess I'm lucky my power can't generally screw things up too much." He grinned slightly.

She kind of furrowed her eyebrow a little bit at his comment. He probably didn't mean it in a mean way, but even though Cricket felt a little insecure about her power--she always got defensive about it as well. "Well, my power doesn't just screw things up."

"I know; I'm sure it comes in handy at times," he reassured, noticing the slight defensive edge to her expression. He fidgeted with the bottom of his shirt.
